Test Field

The main opportunity for load-bearing capacity tests on structural components to investigate their load-bearing and deformation behavior (e.g. steel and concrete bridge construction, load-bearing capacity of masonry walls, fatigue behavior of prestressing steels) is provided by the testing and experimental field at the Institute for Building Research.

The span area available in the institute's experimental hall, in conjunction with the hydraulics used (Schenck/Instron HydroPuls), enables both static and dynamic tests to be carried out on a test field of 9 m x 12 m. The clamping pots / sleeves, which are anchored in a grid of 1 m, not only allow a frictionally engaged and backlash-free connection and the use of (standard) test stands, but also offer flexibility in the realization of individual test arrangements.
